Wednesday he went back to daycare and I went back to school. (I think he just needed a day with his mommy! We did have a great day.) Thursday was the Big Springs Elementary (the school I work at) picnic, so I decided to take Andrew to the picnic. We met Heather for dinner at Panera and then we headed over to the picnic. Andrew was a star at the picnic. He loved all of the kids and the kids loved him! Thursday was also Andrew's month-a-birthday! He turned 9 months. I can't believe he'll be one before we know it.
On Friday, we headed to see Dr. Yaeger for his 9 month check-up. Andrew is really into the rolly chair the doctor sits in. He likes to push it across the floor. He is still into things with wheels. Dr. Yaeger gave Andrew a good report! Andrew is 30 inches long... He is in the 93rd percentile for his height! His head is doing great and he is developing just as he is supposed to. We were very concerned because Andrew has not been doing to well with solid things like Cheerios and Gerber Puffs (whole grains that melt in the mouth). We thought it was related to his reflux, but it is not. Dr. Yaeger said it sounds like his gag reflex is very sensitive since the food is still in his mouth and he is throwing up. So, basically we are dealing with the reflux (where he throws up) and the reflex (where he throws up). There is a lot of throw up at the Willson household! Dr. Yaeger said Andrew will grow out of both. We are not concerned about him not gaining enough weight... He weighed 22 lbs 1 oz. at his visit on Friday. Dr. Yaeger encouraged us to continue trying solids with Andrew.
Andrew has tried some more solids this weekend... cheese, crackers, and cooked carrots. He did best with the crackers, but we will continue to work on the solids! We have been working on the sippy cup with the straw too. With many of the straw sippy cups, the kids have to bite on the straw to get the juice out of the straw... Andrew uses a regular straw, but has had trouble with the sippy cup straw. We mastered it today! He can bite down and drink out of the sippy cup straw. YEAH Andrew!!
This weekend, we went shopping for Andrew's first school pictures outfit! We spent more than we wanted to but we got a great outfit! We decided he would wear this adorable outfit for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we will get a lot of use out of it... The outfit is a dress pair of brown pants, a sweater vest with an adorable train on it, a button down checkered shirt, a pair of argyle socks, and an adorable pair of loafers. He is going to look so cute! We'll post pictures. My mom is coming up this week and is going to take Andrew to his school pictures!
We ordered Andrew's Halloween costume! He is going to be a Jack-o-Lantern! Heather, Ricky, and I were all pumpkins for our first Halloween. My mom used to make all of our costumes... I need to learn to sew! I would love to make Andrew's costumes.
This weekend Brad was sitting at the little table with Andrew... I told him I needed to get the camera because it was so cute that they were each sitting in a little chair. I was thinking how cute it would be if they were having a little tea party... Then I thought, well, Andrew probably won't want to have tea parties since he is a boy... It popped into my head that we should pose a picture of the guys having a beer together. Yes, this is another one of my pictures that I find to be so humours. No need to phone CPS... Andrew has a beer can and it is NOT opened... Brad has a beer bottle and it is NOT opened either. Just a couple of guys sitting around on a Saturday enjoying the day! Ha!
On Saturday, Andrew went to his first baseball game at Ranger Stadium. Brad's company, Orix, had a picnic at the Ballpark and then everyone went to the game. Andrew wore his Cardinals shirt from Nee and Paw and looked adorable! We did not make it to our seats because Andrew was exhausted... We tried to tell him he needed a nap, but he disagreed!
Below you will see a couple of Andrew's favorite stuffed animals! My mom and dad are really good at finding the cutest stuffed animals from a store in San Antonio called Bric, Brac, and Brass. They sell GUND stuffed animals that sing songs. His two favorite animals right now are: his Gorilla that sings "Can't Get Enough of Your Love Baby!" and a duck that sings "Splish, Splash, I Was Taking A Bath!" The poor Gorilla is losing fur on the top of his head... He is facing early balding from being carried by the head by Andrew.
Well, so much is changing and we continue to watch Andrew getting bigger and bigger. Brad and I both love being parents. Everyone always tells you how wonderful being parents can be, but we did not truly understand until we had Andrew. We are very blessed to have such a beautiful, happy, and healthy little boy.
Have a great week!
Love,
Brad, Jennifer, and Andrew
Andrew is after Minnie and he never lets anything get in his way. If it doesn't move, he'll plow through it, crawl over it, or crawl under it. He is very determined! (especially when trying to catch Minnie) Poor Min-Min!
